Rehabilitated Water Tank Keeps Chicken Farm Clucking Away
Leaking Potable Water Tank Spurs Prompt Rehabilitation
A chicken farm in Lancaster had a big problem. They were losing 5 gallons a minute (7,000 gallons a day) of drinking water for their chickens. Upon draining and cleaning, they discovered there were multiple locations of sever cracking in the floor, causing exfiltration of their drinking water. The persistent leaking meant the farm to needed potable water deliveries throughout the week, increasing operating expenditures of the farm from the water deliveries and sanitizer.
Rehabilitation options were limited as this work had to take place in a very narrow window between rotations. Failed concrete skim coats, crack fillers, and epoxy liners over the years had brought the farm to consider replacement as the only option. Enter Sprayroq and their NSF 61 certified polyurethane liner, SprayWall. Selected for its ability to structurally replace the existing tank, rapid project completion, rapid curing, 50-year design life, and monolithic finished product, SprayWall brings the best all-around solution for trenchless rehab. Made in the USA with 35 years of experience in the water/wastewater industry, this liner can bring new life to even the most deteriorated of structures.
Abel Recon coordinated with the farm to slide the project into a short window of opportunity so we could return the structure to service within 2 days. Preparation included some power washing, grooving, and minor reprofiling. The thickness agreed upon would be a semi-structural 300 mil thick application, and the total cost of the project would be one-quarter the cost of a complete tank replacement.

Once completed, the rehabilitated structure stopped leaking, saving on water deliveries, operating costs, and providing a return on their 50-year investment within mere months. An impressive ROI for not only the agricultural industry, but any industry.
